our story
Musicana evolved out of necessity. When founder and musician Karina Daza moved from NYC to Nashville, she noticed there was not only a lack of representation in the South’s music scene, but also a pushback from venues on even booking Latin artists. This stonewalling was based on prejudicial stereotypes and misconceptions about Latinos and Latin music.
Daza decided to create a hub that would act as a support system for other Latin musicians both in Nashville and beyond, to help create nationwide awareness of emerging Latin artists and songwriters.
oUR PURPOSE
Our primary purpose is to provide community, connection, and creative opportunities to members of our collective.
Our goals include collaborating with other artists, brands, small businesses and organizations to create services, programs and one-on-one consulting that will help members reach the next level of their artist careers. We also aim to assist in identifying local network connections that our members can hire and work with in order to grow their careers.
